Affordable Housing
Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity offers qualified applicants affordable homeownership with mortgage payments that range from $565-625/month depending on house and family size. Houses are sold at no-profit and are financed with a 0% interest loan. Habitat also offers a Home Repair program. By utilizing volunteers and offering 0% interest financing, Habitat makes home improvements affordable to low-income homeowners in Buncombe County. Services include exterior and interior repairs, modifications for accessibility, painting and much more. SCHOOL BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENT
Building Bridges of Asheville is a well-respected community based organization that promotes dialogue on race relations. Our organization is pleased to announce the 2007-08 Building Bridges Scholarship Program. Scholarships will be awarded to two qualified high school seniors from Asheville City and/or Buncombe County public schools. One of the recipients will be an African-American high school student. The scholarship will cover in-state tuition and fees for up to 4 years at any North Carolina public university or technical/community college. All applications are held in strictest confidence. Applications will be available beginning October 30, 2006 in the school guidance office. Application deadline is March 15, 2007. Award recipients will be contacted May 1, 2007.
